Did you know that where you live determines where your water is treated? All of Philadelphia's drinking water is treated at one of our three drinking water treatment plants: Baxter, Belmont, and Queen Lane. While at the plants, our expert staff guides the water through multiple treatment processes. We test at every stage to ensure safe, top-quality drinking water is delivered to every neighborhood in Philadelphia.

Before treated water leaves the plant, we test it to make sure it meets every standard for quality. These tests include pH, turbidity, and looking for residual chlorine. We perform these tests every day, every 3 hours, to monitor the treatment process.
We also add in beneficial compounds, such as fluoride and zinc, to help against tooth decay and prevent corrosion of pipes.
