If you recently finished filing your taxes, you may consider using your tax documents to help you apply for financial assistance when paying your water bills. Even though you don't need your tax documents to pay your bill, you will need the following information:
-
Applicant & Household Info: Names, birth dates, and monthly income amounts for household members
-
Proofs of residency: A government ID and a recent statement or bill with your address
-
Proof of income: You’ll need to include proof of income for every adult in your household
Since some of the information on your tax documents is the same, this will make applying for assistance much easier!
Additionally, if you are experiencing a special hardship, you may be eligible for assistance regardless of your household income. If you are applying with a Special Hardship claim, you’ll need to submit some type of hardship documentation. Review our checklist to learn more.
Please note: the most common reason for a denied application is missing or outdated income documentation, so please double-check the requirements. If you need assistance filling out an application, please visit a TAP Partner Site. Customers who apply with a partner's help usually finish their applications in about 15 minutes!
