Watch: December 13 Presentation About Planned Southwest Treatment Facility
The planned Southwest Philadelphia facility will improve Delaware River water quality.
On December 13, the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) hosted a virtual public presentation detailing a planned facility adjacent to the existing Southwest Water Pollution Control Plant (SWWPCP) that will help improve water quality in the Delaware River.
PWD is proposing the construction of the facility to reduce wastewater ammonia being received by the SWWPCP and the adjacent Biosolids Recycling Center.
PWD is currently seeking a low-interest loan from the state’s PENNVEST fund to help finance the project and does not anticipate a significant impact on user fees as a result of this project.
