Reminder: Consumer Fireworks Are Prohibited in Montgomery Township
Your safety is our top priority here in Montgomery Township! We want to remind you that airborne Consumer Fireworks are prohibited within our Township's borders, as outlined in Ordinance 23-333.
This regulation aligns with Pennsylvania statute Title 3, Section 1104(b)(5), which states that Consumer Fireworks cannot be ignited within 150 feet of any building or vehicle. Fireworks pose significant risks, including fires, injuries, and even fatalities. Our dedicated efforts in enacting the Fireworks Ordinance aim to ensure that every member of our community can enjoy their summer celebrations safely.
Ground and hand-held sparklers are still allowed. Please handle them with care and take all necessary safety precautions while using these devices.
If you wish to enjoy a large fireworks display this 4th of July, we encourage you to attend local community fireworks events in the area.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping your neighbors safe!
Tips to Celebrate the 4th of July Safely
This Fourth of July, make sure you celebrate responsibly with a sober ride home from the party.
Tips to Celebrate Safely:
- If you plan to drink, make a plan ahead of time for a sober ride home.
- Even if you’ve had only one drink, let someone who hasn’t been drinking take you home. A sober driver is the one who does not drink at all, not the one who’s had the least to drink.
- If you’re hosting a Fourth of July gathering, help the designated drivers out by making sure there are plenty of non-alcoholic beverages.
- Have a friend who is about to drive impaired? Take the keys away and make arrangements to get your friend home safely.
- If you see an impaired driver on the road, safely pull over and call 911.
- Always wear your seat belt.
