Montgomery Avenue Corridor Study

The Montgomery Avenue Corridor Study is a comprehensive planning effort led by Lower Merion Township in partnership with Narberth Borough to improve safety and mobility along one of the Main Line’s busiest corridors. Spanning approximately seven miles from Spring Mill Road to City Avenue, the study is supported by a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant and focuses on identifying systemic safety issues and potential improvements through a data-driven, corridor-wide approach.

This holistic and comprehensive study evaluates roughly 35 intersections and segments along Montgomery Avenue based on a thorough analysis of crash data, traffic patterns, and existing infrastructure combined with public input. The Township and Borough held a packed public meeting in early February 2026 to unveil the preliminary statistics and solicit initial feedback from residents on that data. The meeting also launched the start of a survey that was available to the public and featured prominently by both municipalities about their experiences on Montgomery Avenue. As of March 1, over 2,500 survey responses were received, indicating the increased attention members of public have on this initiative. The public can expect a second public meeting to review and provide input on the preliminary recommendations for the corridor later this spring.

Overall, the effort reflects a shift toward holistic corridor planning, with the goal of creating a safer, more consistent, and multimodal Montgomery Avenue that better serves residents, businesses, and regional travel needs.

Gas Powered Leaf Blower Ordinance

On November 19, 2025, the Board of Commissioners passed an ordinance restricting the use of gas powered leaf blowers. The first season of restrictions begins on June 1, 2026. The Township website provides details about the ordinance and additional resources.
