 Bus Patrol Enforcement
in Lower Merion Township
All Lower Merion School District buses are equipped with stop-arm cameras that automatically capture the license plates of vehicles that illegally pass stopped school buses. This program, authorized under Pennsylvania law (75 Pa. C.S. § 3345.1), is part of a statewide push to protect children, with similar camera enforcement expanding across Pennsylvania. The law is simple: when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, you must stop at least 10 feet away, no matter which direction you are traveling. A few seconds of patience can prevent a tragedy, and ignoring the law will cost you $300.
This FREE event for high school students aims to keep teens safe on the roadway through education, interaction, and fun!
