Exciting Update from the Lower Merion Conservancy
The Lower Merion Conservancy has been awarded a $217,600 grant from the PA Department of Environmental Protection’s Growing Greener Program to revitalize Harriton Preserve, a public park in Bryn Mawr owned by Lower Merion Township. This two-year restoration effort, launched in partnership with the Friends of Harriton Preserve, focuses on repairing the park’s riparian zone—the land along the creek that winds through the site.
Gray Landscape Design crafted the restoration plan, and phase one kicked off this summer with help from an unconventional crew: 22 goats from Amazing Grazing, tasked with tackling invasive plants. Over the next year, repeated invasive removal will clear the way for the planting of hundreds of native trees, shrubs, and perennials, transforming the area into a thriving, attractive, resilient streamside habitat.
