The Township Sustainability Team is Growing!
Lower Merion is pleased to welcome a new member to the Township sustainability team!
Eric Urbaniak joined Township staff in July and will be supporting the Sustainability Manager, Paloma Vila, with sustainability grant writing, community education and outreach, and project implementation.
Eric recently earned an MS in Natural Resources at the University of Vermont. During his time in graduate school, Eric joined the UVM Sustainable Solutions Lab and conducted research on carbon pricing, community behaviors, and environmental incentives within city ordinances. Prior to his research at UVM, Eric attended Central Michigan University where he cofounded and directed the student-run Office of Sustainability. Eric’s work earned him awards from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, United States Udall Foundation, and the US Environmental Protection Agency.
In his free time, Eric loves biking, drumming, hiking, and pickleball! Please join us in welcoming Eric to the Township!

Mental Health and Suicide: A message from the Lower Merion Township Health Advisory Council
Mental health issues are on the rise in the United States and suicide is a top leading cause of death. It is important to recognize the warning signs of suicide and to get help as soon as possible. Warning signs include things such as talking about wanting to die, talking about being a burden to others, and talking about feeling excessive shame or guilt. Other warning signs might include withdrawing from friends, displaying mood swings, using drugs or alcohol more frequently, or eating or sleeping more, or less, than usual. To get help for yourself or someone else, visit Mental Health Resources. Don’t wait.
