 2023 HRSI REPORT NOW AVAILABLE
During 2024, a total of 13 HRSIs were recorded in Pennsylvania, one of which was fatal. This is the lowest number of HRSIs recorded in Pennsylvania since 1915.
Nine of the 13 HRSIs reported in 2023 were inflicted by others, while four were self-inflicted. The primary cause of HRSIs was “unintentional discharge”, followed by “victim in the line of fire.”

To help accommodate instructors who were unable to attend an in-person annual training dinner, the Pennsylvania Game Commission is offering two virtual opportunities on Thursday, June 13, 2024 for instructors to meet their bi-annual training requirements. CONGRATULATIONS TO 2023 OUTSTANDING INSTRUCTORS
Congratulations to Bud Snyder, from Wayne County, for receiving the Game Commission’s statewide Outstanding Instructor of the Year award! Bud has been an hunter-trapper education instructor for 54 years and was nominated by State Game Warden Travis O’Neill.
Congratulations to Ryan Ruditis, Alvin Hubler, Ralph Muir, Jack Johnson, and Clair Zimmerman for receiving a regional Instructor of the Year award. Thank you to these instructors for going above and beyond in the name of Hunter-Trapper Education.
