 LOOKING FOR MENTORS THIS FALL
Help the Pennsylvania Game Commission pass on the tradition of hunting by volunteering to teach a new hunter this fall!
Since 2019, the Pennsylvania Game Commission partnered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, along with the National Deer Association, to host a mentored archery deer hunt at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge near Philadelphia, PA. These mentored archery deer hunts provide individuals with little to no hunting experience an opportunity to participate in a managed deer hunt under the guidance of an experienced hunter.
This 2022-23 hunting season, a total of four three-day mentored hunts are scheduled to occur at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge and we are looking for potential hunting mentors! You don’t need to be an expert hunter to help someone get started hunting, all it takes is a positive attitude, basic hunting skills, and a desire to pass on the tradition of hunting.
Interested in volunteering as a mentor? Send the Pennsylvania Game Commission an email expressing your interest at mentoredhunting@pa.gov before Friday, Sept. 23, 2022.
2022-23 John Heinz Mentored Archery Deer Hunt Dates:
- Thursday-Saturday, October 20-22, 2022
- Thursday-Saturday, November 3-5, 2022
- Friday-Sunday, November 18-20, 2022
