It's National Shooting Sports Month!
August is National Shooting Sports Month! The Pennsylvania Game Commission has several public shooting ranges across the state to help you practice enhancing your shooting sport skills, including archery ranges and shotgun patterning ranges.
BEFORE YOU GO, learn the rules and regulations and where to find a range here.
You will need a range permit or a current Pennsylvania hunting and trapping license. [They do not need to be displayed while using a state game lands public shooting range, but must be in possession, as well as a secondary form of identification].
Last Chance at a Pennsylvania Elk License
If you missed the deadline to apply for the 2022 Pennsylvania Game Commission Elk License Lottery, you have 48 hours left to apply online for the KECA tag.

The KECA Elk Tag Raffle winner will receive one 2022 Pennsylvania bull (antlered) tag and can hunt in any elk hunt zone from Sept. 10, 2022 to Nov. 5, 2022. Trophy Rack Lodge will be donating a fully guided 6 day hunt (lodging and meals included) to the lucky winner.
Those interested in applying can purchase tickets online for $25 for one OR six tickets for $100.00. The KECA Elk Tag Raffle winner will be drawn at the Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette, PA, on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022 at 1 p.m. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win.
Trail Cam Photo Contest
Don't forget! Send us your favorite summer trail cam photo, taken in June, July or August (2022), in Pennsylvania, to participate in the Summer Trail Cam Photo Contest. More details can he found here.
To enter, email ONE trail cam photo to pgc-contest@pa.gov, with the subject line: “Summer Trail Cam Photo Contest,” by Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022.
