Statement from County Executive Sara Innamorato
"First, I want to thank the incredible Allegheny County employees who delivered a very well-run Election Day yesterday for our more than 954,000 registered voters. Staff have been working round the clock for the last month to process applications, run Satellite Election Offices and Ballot Return Sites, and prepare for yesterday’s election. County employees processed and tabulated 220,000 mail-in ballots in record time yesterday. Alongside our staff were nearly 7,000 poll workers who helped ensure our neighbors – nearly 500,000 of them - were able to vote securely and without interference in person yesterday. At almost 75% turnout, it was a robust election and I just have to express my gratitude to staff, volunteers, and voters who participated in the process.
The people of Pennsylvania and the nation selected a new president and leaders. I believe democracy is fundamental to maintaining a free society, and I accept the outcome of the election. I will continue to defend our democracy and stand against any group that attempts to erode it.
We remain committed to building an Allegheny for All. At the local level, we will double down on delivering on our promises that help our neighbors. That includes running free and fair elections, helping our unhoused neighbors, protecting our environment, securing people’s rights, creating more economic opportunities and building a strong regional economy so everyone can thrive."
