The Financial Estimate Committee (FEC) is tasked with producing an estimate of the financial impact for each measure that qualifies for the ballot.  

The Explanatory Statement Committee (ESC) is tasked with drafting an impartial, simple and understandable statement for each measure on the ballot.  

Both committees have met to consider drafts for Initiative Petition 28: People for the Elimination of Animal Cruelty Exemptions (PEACE) Act. 

The Oregon Secretary of State’s Elections Division has completed the signature verification process for IP 2026-028 and found that the petition does not have the minimum number of valid signatures needed to qualify for the 2026 General Election ballot.  

The public hearing to receive public comments on the draft financial estimate and draft explanatory statement has been cancelled, along with any future reconsideration meetings for the FEC or ESC.
