You are receiving this email notification because you asked us to let you know about news from the State Archives Records Management Unit.
We have filed a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, including the Statement of Need and Fiscal Impact, with the Secretary of State’s Office. This will be published in the Oregon Bulletin on April 1, 2025. We have included a summary of the proposed administrative rule adoptions and amendments at the end of this notice.

We invite you to participate in the below virtual public hearing on the administrative rules listed at the end of this letter. This will be your opportunity to provide verbal feedback on the proposed rule changes.

Summary of Amended Administrative Rules:
OAR 166-300-0010, OAR 166-300-0015, OAR 166-300-0017, OAR 166-300-0020, OAR 166-300-0025, OAR 166-300-0030, OAR 166-300-0035, OAR 166-300-0040, OAR 166-300-0045: Updates State Agency General Records Retention Schedule to account for current administrative, fiscal, legal, tribal cultural, and historical needs and requirements. Removes obsolete language and references. Adds new records series for current records, and updates retention periods for various public records.
Summary of Adopted Administrative Rules
OAR 166-300-0017: Lists common records produced by boards and commissions and prescribes required retention periods. The records in this rule were previously listed in OAR 166-350-0010.
Summary of Repealed Administrative Rules
OAR 166-350-0005, OAR 166-350-0010: Repeals the Boards and Commissions General Records Retention Schedule in favor of moving it into a new section in the State Agency General Records Retention Schedule (OAR 166-300-0017).

The OUS no longer exists, and the State Archives no longer has authority to set records retention periods for public universities.
