This year the Oregon Secretary of State Elections Division is undertaking a new process to make voting more accessible to Oregonians who speak languages other than English by translating county and state voters’ pamphlets.
This work will be guided by a new Translation Advisory Council. Council members will have civic or lived experience in impacted communities, or language skills in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Mien, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai or Vietnamese.
I would like to invite you to apply for a position on the Council! Click here to apply.
The deadline for applications is June 1, 2022.
Being a member of the Council is volunteer civic service. Members will be appointed by me after the application deadline. I encourage you to check out our website and FAQ for additional information, including timeless and information on the time commitment.
If you think your experience and knowledge can benefit the many Oregonians who speak languages other than English, I encourage you to apply today. Give us a call at 503-986-2312 or email us at TAC.info@sos.oregon.gov if you have questions about the Council.
