The Basics class is a comprehensive and thorough examination of notary basics: purpose, responsibilities and liabilities of a notary; how to notarize; notary certificates and the notary journal. It is designed to help you pass the notary exam. Seasoned notaries are welcome to attend.
The Advanced class (CURRENT NOTARIES ONLY) addresses employee notary issues, notario and elder abuse fraud, journaling, witnesses, challenging notarial certificates, IPEN and RON notarizations, the steps to become a RON notary, among other topics. RON fees
The maximum fee for RON notarizations performed by a certified Oregon RON notary is $25.00. It has come to our attention that some RON platform providers are charging a higher fee for RON notarizations if the signer(s) are located outside the U.S. during the notarization. Because RON fees are set in the temporary statute adopted on June 30, 2020, (House Bill 4212) certified Oregon RON notaries are not permitted to charge more for notarizations performed outside of the U.S.
Stay tuned for some exciting news regarding RON notarizations to be announced in the next several weeks!

When completing your application, the commission name shall consist of the applicant’s first personal name (first name), additional name(s) (middle name), and surname (family or last name), unless proven otherwise with satisfactory evidence per ORS 194.240(2)
