Where do your electronic records live? Payroll and accounting systems, HR systems, building and permitting systems, and myriad other applications all play a role in the lifecycle of your records. So how do you manage those records for security, retention and access in systems that were never designed to serve as long-term repositories? Furthermore, how can your government organization make informed decisions when looking at future software needs? This virtual training from the Oregon State Archives will cover topics such as evaluating information systems before they are purchased and how to deal with existing systems that already hold record content, with an eye towards compliance with Oregon law.

This session builds upon the Basics of Public Records Law training, focusing specifically on electronic communication records. Topics will include: proactive email management, mobile communications and social media.
