Sentinel Highlight: Fraud Detection Guidance for Employers and Educators
As discussed in the Fall 2024 Sentinel, fraud is experienced by almost every sector in the population. When it invades the health professions, it becomes a serious health concern, a risk to public safety, and violates public trust in the health care system. Review these 11 recommendations from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing to increase awareness and help nursing programs, employers, accreditors and others institute methods of fraud detection and prevention. |

Recent Rule Changes: CNA Consolidation
|
After more than a decade, certified nursing assistants in Oregon will be no longer be designated as CNA 1 or CNA 2; there will be only one CNA, starting July 1, 2025. Based on input gathered over months from employers, education programs, and community stakeholders, the Board adopted new Division 63 administrative rules in June 2024 to consolidate the two CNA levels into one. During the implementation period, education programs and employers are working to adjust to the coming rules. For more information, please review the Division 63 Rules Change Advisory and articles in the Summer 2024 Sentinel.
