City auditor’s report finds that the Bureau of Emergency Communications’ efforts to recruit, hire, and train employees helped address the Bureau’s staffing crisis and reduce 911 wait times. The report also makes recommendations to help improve training timelines, increase trainee retention, and reduce resistance to training program changes.

More than 18,000 people responded to an online survey commissioned by City Council. The survey is not statistically valid, but does provide some insight into how people think about the issue of renovating the Moda Center. Since the beginning of 2026, PPB has hired 38 officers, a testament to PPB's intensified focus on rebuilding its ranks following years of declining staffing. Over the past year, PPB's Recruitment Unit developed and deployed a comprehensive strategy aimed at revitalizing hiring efforts. That work is showing results. In April 2026, PPB received the highest number of applicants since any April dating back to 2017.

Prosper Portland offers matching, reimbursable grants that help businesses and property owners make tenant improvements and small and large-scale improvements to new and existing buildings.
Who's Eligible: Businesses and property owners in the following TIF Districts: Central Eastside, Gateway Regional Center, Interstate Corridor, Lents Town Center, Old Town, and North Macadam.

Prosper Portland provides funding to small businesses located in the City of Portland that have sustained physical and economic damage due to break-ins and vandalism. Grants assist eligible businesses to remain open and operational and contribute to maintaining a healthy street environment. Eligible entities may receive up to $25,000 over the life of the program for eligible repairs.
