 Dear Neighbors,
Last week, Council was in recess, a brief pause before moving important work forward.
This week, we reconvene for City Council meetings and a Spring TAO work session centered on progress and accountability.
Continue below for “This Week in City Council,” where you can find meeting dates, times, and ways to watch live.
And don’t forget to sign up for two important upcoming events: the Joint Budget Listening Session with Councilor Elana Pirtle-Guiney and Coffee with a Cop. These are meaningful opportunities to stay informed, share your voice, and connect with your community.

From Councilor Smith’s Desk: District 1 in Action
This week, we take an important step forward. On April 2nd, we will hold our first Committee of the Whole, bringing Council together to look at the full picture and make more coordinated decisions for our city.
I’ve been clear, we are responsible for all of it. Not just a portion of the budget, but the full system and the outcomes it delivers.
I’m also stepping into my roles as Vice Chair of the Public Works Committee and the Community and Public Safety Committee, two areas that directly impact daily life in District 1.
For me, this work is about accountability and follow-through.
Our communities have waited long enough. It’s time to deliver.
As we move forward, I want to hear about what matters most to you.

🌟 District 1 Spotlight!
This week, I’m highlighting the Division Midway Alliance, an organization strengthening Southeast Division Street and surrounding neighborhoods.
Their work creates economic opportunity, supports small businesses, and fosters a strong sense of belonging in one of Portland’s most diverse communities.
This is what community-led progress looks like: investing in people, uplifting local businesses, and creating spaces where everyone can thrive.
