Neighborhood Tree Stewards Applications Open Soon
 Urban trees are not just important for reducing storm water runoff and providing habitat for wildlife. They are also integral in driving social connection, improving public health, and making our cities more livable. What better way to learn more about these benefits than by joining the next Neighborhood Tree Stewards class this summer? This class is a great opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, and give back to your community.

 Women's History Month is an annual reminder to recognize the contributions and achievements of women throughout history and society. To celebrate, we are highlighting the works of three authors who tell the stories of trees: Ada Limón, Lauren Oakes, and Beronda Montgomery.

Dedication of the Ainsworth Linear Arboretum
 Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 25, to attend the official dedication of the Ainsworth Linear Arboretum (ALA). After more than two decades of planting to diversify the original monoculture of Norway maples in the median, the Morton Arboreta Registry has recognized the strip from Fernhill Park to MLK Jr. Blvd as a Level One Arboretum.

Black Earth Day Tree Talk

Earth Day Tree Walk with the Bureau of Transportation
Friday, April 17, 6 to 8pm Alberta Park (1905 NE Killingsworth St, Portland, OR 97211)
Urban Forestry and the Bureau of Transportation are teaming up to put on a tree walk for Earth Day. We will be walking around Alberta Park discussing what makes streets safe, canopy equity, and how those themes connect.
Trees for Residential Streets Open House

Want free trees along the unimproved rights-of-way near your home, but don’t know where to start? Come to Urban Forestry’s first open house for the Trees for Residential Streets (TRS) program. You will get an overview of our tree planting strategy and be able to ask questions about trees and eligibility to the TRS program manager.

The Local Tree Care Providers workshop is for tree care professionals who work in Portland. We will cover different kinds of tree permits and how to submit applications. It's free to attend and is a requirement for companies that wish to be included on the City's Local Tree Care Providers web page.
Spring Tree Planting with APANO at Harrison Park

Saving Louisiana's Coast with Trees
Activists in Louisiana have an ambitious project to protect the state’s coastline from erosion and future storms: planting 30,000 trees. Several groups in the region are working together in hopes of rebuilding coastal defense systems in the wake of destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina.
