The Dream Plaza
On Tuesday, I was honored to cut the ribbon at the Dream Plaza opening. A HUGE thank you to the FamJam team, volunteers, artists, organizers, and every single person who poured love into this incredible space! FamJam has hosted over 150 events across Portland since its inception. What has happened on SE 9th and SE Taylor is something truly special. They have taken a space that was underused and transformed it into something beautiful: an outdoor community center powered by joy, music, art, and togetherness! This is the first time that PBOT has closed the streets for weeks at a time – not for construction, but for connection. For community! If I have anything to say about it, this will just be the beginning!
The seed planted by Dream Big has grown into something beautiful and vibrant. Now the call goes out to other creatives: the soil is fertile! Keep growing, dreaming, and showing Portland what is possible when we center people, not cars.
Thank you FamJam for reminding us that joy and connection are not a luxury – they are a public good that should belong to all of us. It was a pleasure to be a part of this event and join in this moment!

Constituent Coffee
Last weekend I hosted my monthly constituent coffee at Sunnyside Environmental School Playground. We had a great turnout! I love hearing everyone’s thoughts and ideas for the district. Thank you to everyone who joined me! My next constituent coffee will be Saturday August 9, and it will be held virtually! RSVP for that here!
Portland Pride Parade
Last Sunday I walked in the Portland Pride Parade twice, once with the City of Portland and then again with Portland DSA. It's hard to pinpoint what I love most about Pride – all of the joy (and dancing) as we march together, my sore cheeks at the end of a day of non-stop gleeful smiling, the vibrancy of our city covered in rainbows and glitter – but ultimately I think it's the warmth and energy we collectively nurture by being so lovingly in community with each other. Thank you, Portland, for another amazing Pride!
Japan Urawa Red Diamond Women’s Soccer Team
This week, the Japan Urawa Red Diamond Women’s Soccer Team came to visit City Hall. They were here for an exhibition game with the Portland Thorns. It was so lovely to hear from the team, and listen to the experiences they have had while visiting Portland.
