The Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting at Glisan Landing
A couple of weeks ago our team had the opportunity to attend the ribbon cutting of an absolutely stunning new housing development in District 3, Glisan Landing! The property is a model for collaboration and innovation in our approach to addressing our housing crisis.
Glisan Landing, built and owned by Related Northwest, is made up of two buildings, The Aldea, operated by IRCO, and The Beacon, operated by Catholic Charities.
The Aldea is affordable multifamily housing complete with an accessibility friendly playground (including fairy garden!), a rad teen room, a stunning multicultural reading room, and fiber studio and computer lab! A solar array on the roof was funded with a PCEF grant, and an adjacent preschool, which will also be run by IRCO, is under construction.
The Beacon is permanent supportive housing, partially funded with support from Metro SHS tax funding, complete with on-site support services, a food pantry, a community room, a telehealth office, and a public facing cafe operated by Stone Soup as part of their barista training program, and an industrial kitchen and classroom as part of their service industry education.
