Once every three years, Metro opens a competitive grant process called Regional Flexible Funds Allocation (RFFA). This is a chance for cities throughout the region to fund new transportation projects using federal funding. This past application window, the City of Portland submitted six exciting projects. The map above just shows the projects submitted by the City of Portland. Recently Metro released an initial assessment of how well the projects compare across the region.
From now until April 30th, you can submit public comment to help Metro decide how the region spends an estimated $42 million to improve walking, biking and access to transit. With requests for over $140 million submitted this cycle, not all projects will be funded, so it’s important for you to make your voice heard if you think there are projects the region should prioritize. You can view all of the projects on by visiting the 2028-2030 RFFA Candidate Projects page on Metro’s website. There you’ll find an interactive survey where you can review all 24 of the proposed projects from Clackamas, Washington and Multnomah Counties combined.
In addition, Metro is also seeking public comment on a bond proposal that would provide up to $88.5 million to five regionally significant transit projects throughout the Metro region. To learn more and comment on the bond proposal, please visit Metro’s online open house. For more information on the Regional Flexible Funds Allocation and access to all available online feedback tools, please visit Metro’s RFFA program page.
