We reached a big milestone this week. We now know what it takes to bring a resolution to a committee and get the votes to move forward. On Monday, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee voted to refer our Zenith resolution to full Council for next Wednesday. Submit written testimony this Friday when the agenda becomes available to the public. Thanks to many of you, our momentum going into next week is strong.
Here’s what next week will look like in the Council Chambers. Attend virtually or in person.
The Council Work Session on Monday morning will be all about the Critical Energy Infrastructure Hub.
On Wednesday, I’ll introduce the Zenith resolution at the Council Meeting with fellow councilors and co-sponsors Jamie Dunphy, Tiffany Koyama Lane, and Angelita Morillo. There’s a lot more in the agenda to cover than this item, so please submit written testimony beforehand to ensure your voice is included in the public record.
In between Council Meeting weeks, our committees are bringing key topics and policies forward and addressing our budget issues head on.
You’ll also hear more about the social housing resolution I’m developing with Councilor Candace Avalos. My staff has been busy crafting this policy so we can start to define social housing for Portland and evaluate our options for making this necessary housing solution a reality. I’m proud of the work we’re doing, and I’m excited to see what else we can do now that I’ve got a senior policy advisor and policy coordinator on board.
We invite you to continue sharing your policy ideas and interests with us, especially when it comes to active transportation, climate, housing, labor, arts, and community development. Our team is building our capacity to develop policies in these areas, and we appreciate the input we’re receiving to keep up the pace.

Sellwood Community House on Friday the 14th
It’s official! We’re at Sellwood Community House on second Fridays from now through June. This is where we can chat one-on-one or in small groups. We can talk about the City budget, what our office is working on, and what’s important to you.
Thanks for your patience as we try out a new system that combines appointments and walk-ups to help us accommodate as many 15-minute conversations throughout the day. Reserve your spot and get information about the best time to stop by if you prefer to be spontaneous.
