Welcome in
I’m glad you’re here. Here’s to new beginnings, a new Portland government, and so much to look forward to. I wanted to start things off by letting you know my office is listening and we’re getting through your letters and messages.
I also heard you loud and clear when you showed up to the steps of City Hall for our very first Council meeting on January 2nd, demonstrated your concerns about oil trains, and demanded a public process regarding Zenith Energy. By the end of that meeting, Council elected Elana Pirtle-Guiney (District 2) for president and Tiffany Koyama Lane (District 3) for vice president. At the work session that followed, I asked Mayor Keith Wilson for his commitment to a public process for Zenith and the Land Use Compatibility Statement (LUCS) evaluation and welcomed Donnie Oliveira (Deputy City Administrator for Community and Economic Development) to present more information at an upcoming session. Event details will be posted on my calendar when it’s confirmed.
Since last week, I’ve met with community members from renters’ rights organizations, tenant associations, and neighborhood groups who elevated their issues about housing accessibility, safety, labor, and economic development. My staff and I are doing our best to fit everyone in, and I look forward to committee assignments where the public can get a closer look at how we can work on our legislative priorities together.
In Solidarity, Mitch Green
Staffing, comments, and constituent meetings
All council districts are launching an electronic tool called Zendesk for communicating with our community members. Our feedback form also allows for requesting meetings, submitting media inquiries, and more. I’m supported by my Chief of Staff Maria Sipin and District 4 administrative specialist Ashley McKenzie. These are two names you’ll recognize when engaging with my office.
Check back soon for announcements regarding our upcoming series of constituent days in District 4.
