Portland Bureau of Transportation
148th crossing plan

A map of NE 148th Ave shows plans for a crossing on the north side of NE Sacramento Street and new sidewalk on the north side of Margaret Scott Elementary School.

Hello,

We’re emailing to let you know about a street safety project the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is planning to build in the Wilkes Neighborhood this Summer! The safety project includes a redesign of the lane striping on NE 148th Avenue from NE 146th Drive to NE Halsey Street.

Why redesign the street?

Changing how space is organized on NE 148th Avenue will help reduce speeding and improve the street crossing at NE Sacramento Street next to Margaret Scott Elementary School.

This project will:

  • Reduce the number of vehicle travel lanes to create safer places to cross the street and discourage speeding.
  • Construct a marked crossing on the north side of NE Sacramento Street at NE 148th Ave and put in a streetlight.
  • Build a new sidewalk with trees on the north side of Margaret Scott Elementary School.

What’s happening now?

PBOT is preparing a plan set, and work is planned for Summer 2023. We will share information about the construction schedule as soon as it becomes available.
