122nd Avenue Plan: Revised Draft

Since 2018, the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) has been developing a comprehensive plan for how to improve safety, access, and transit along 122nd Avenue between NE Marine Drive and SE Foster Road.

Earlier this summer we asked you to provide comments on the draft 122nd Avenue Plan

We received several comments and recommendations for additions and/or edits. We are now considering these comments and developing a final draft plan that will be presented to City Council later this year.

122nd Avenue Redesign - Survey Results

A few months ago we asked for feedback on various concepts for a project that will redesign 122nd Avenue between SE Foster Road and SE Powell Boulevard. We received input from more than 250 people, and you can click here to see the results of this survey.  While there was no overwhelming favorite design, project staff will consider the comments received and use the feedback to develop a refined hybrid design.

This project, funded by Fixing Our Streets, will resurface the road between SE Foster Road and SE Holgate Boulevard and also aims to provide better bicycle facilities, slow vehicle speeds, add crossings, and improve safety and comfort for all road users. A revised design will be shared later in 2022 or early 2023.

Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Grant Application

Finally, PBOT staff is currently working on an application for the Safe Streets and Roads For All (SS4A) grant program, a new federal funding source established as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This grant program funds the development of plans and projects to reduce roadway deaths and serious injuries. If successful, the grant would fund many of the top priorities identified in the 122nd Avenue Plan. To learn more about the grant, check out this flyer. Applications are due September 15th, and notification of award should occur in late 2022 or early 2023. A resolution to apply will be brought to City Council in early September.

Please visit the plan website to learn more about the many funded projects along 122nd Avenue, review material from the online open house, and see the status of other 122nd Avenue projects. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out.
