Building a Better 82nd Avenue Community Advisory Group
PBOT is recruiting 18 community members to serve as volunteers on the Building a Better 82nd Avenue Community Advisory Committee. The Community Advisory Group (CAG) will play an essential role in providing feedback, helping solicit and engage the broader 82nd Avenue community, and helping shape the final plan recommendations.
Committee activities include:
- Elevate and confirm community priorities for investment
- Act as a community liaison between PBOT and the greater 82nd Avenue community
- Provide feedback and input on ideas, projects, and strategies identified in the planning process
- Provide input on plan implementation
We invite you to share this opportunity and consider applying. Click here to review the application and apply online.
Background
In June 2022, the State of Oregon transferred ownership of 82nd Avenue (from Lombard Street to the southern city limit at Clatsop Street) to the City of Portland. The transfer of ownership is supported by a $150 million commitment from the State of Oregon and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), and a $35 million commitment from the City of Portland for improvements to this crucial corridor.
The first $80 million will be available immediately. The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will invest in critical safety and maintenance projects from now through 2026. Projects will include new street lighting, pedestrian crossings, and pavement rehabilitation and new accessible curb ramps and other improvements. PBOT is initiating a process to confirm the community’s vision for 82nd Avenue and determine how the remaining funds should be invested beyond 2026 to support that vision.
