GobierNOS: Govern-meant para ti
The bilingual webinar will take place on Monday, April 26
(April 21, 2021) On Monday, April 26 at noon, Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will present the second iteration of GobierNOS, a bilingual webinar that is part of the bureau's overall effort to find new ways to engage the many communities it serves. With representatives from local organizations across our region, GobierNOS highlights the experience of our region's Latinx residents, one of the fastest growing groups in our region and one whose members are each day adding to the vibrancy of the local political and policy conversation.
"GobierNOS: Govern-meant para ti" offers an opportunity to discuss mobility justice in our region's Latinx community. PBOT, with members of the City of Portland LatinxPDX employee affinity group, will host the bilingual Zoom webinar, and we invite all interested Portlanders to join us.
This Zoom webinar will be conducted almost entirely in Spanish, with English and Spanish interpreters, and closed captions provided in both languages. It is free and open to all. Registration is required in advance.
"GobierNOS: Govern-meant para ti" is a regional and culturally specific webinar. The panelists are Latinx members of local non profit organizations, who will share their perspectives on mobility justice. We will explore perspectives on freedom of movement and relationships to transportation and land.
We are honored to feature the following Latinx panelists:
-
Cesar Tapia-Chavez, Latino Network
-
Yoana Molina Marcial, Guerreras Latinas
-
Andrés Oswill, Oregon Futures Lab
To kick off this exciting event, we are pleased to be joined by Transportation Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty and Commissioner Carmen Rubio, the first Latinx member of Portland's Council.
The event will include brief time for audience questions for the panelists.
"GobierNOS: Govern-meant para ti" would not be possible without the support of PBOT's Equity Program and LatinxPDX. The event planning team includes members across Portland city bureaus: Vanessa Micale (PBOT), Lale Santelices (PBOT), Marianna Lomanto (PBOT), Anamaria Perez (PBOT), Fabiola Casas (Portland Water Bureau), and Yolanda Sanchez-Marquez (Portland Office of Equity and Human Rights).
