Bicycle Advisory Committee

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will be holding a virtual Bicycle Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday, May 12th from 6-8 pm via Zoom. Please see below for details and instructions on how to join.

Agenda:

Introductions/Announcements (6:00-6:10)

Portland Freight Plan Update (6:10-6:55)

Portland’s Freight Plan was originally adopted in 2006 to provide a road map for managing freight movement and commercial delivery of goods and services in Portland. Much has changed in the global and local landscape for freight in the ensuing 14 years, sparking this needed update of the plan. Robert Hillier, Portland’s Freight Coordinator, Francesca Patricolo, 2040Freight Project Manager, and PBOT Planning intern, Stephanie Lonsdale will frame the broad considerations informing this update.

Bicycle Theft (6:55-7:10)

Portland Police Office Dave Sanders with the Bicycle Theft Task Force will briefly discuss city efforts to combat bicycle theft and discuss bicycle registration. An especially timely consideration as one effect of lifting of stay-at-home orders may be more bicycle use among people who’ve not been riding regularly in the past and who may be unaware of proper locking and registration.

Transportation Impacts of COVID (7:10-7:25)

PBOT Planning Manager Eric Hesse will present the city’s most up-to-date information on transportation impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Committee Discussion: Next Steps in COVID Response (7:25-7:55)

Committee discussion about what advise to share with PBOT and City Council about next steps in COVID response relating to encouragement of bicycle transportation.

Committee Business (7:55-8:00)

Adjourn (8:00)
