Northwest in Motion

Northwest in Motion is a plan to help make Portland’s Northwest District safer and more convenient for pedestrians and people biking and taking public transit. It includes a list of transportation projects that we plan to build in and around the neighborhood over the next five years.

At this open house, you will be able to learn about the new Public Review Draft of Northwest in Motion, including stations about specific project and program recommendations, benefits and impacts, and implementation and funding strategies.

Learn more about Northwest in Motion on the project website. After this open house we will post the draft plan on the website and will take public comments until the end of December 2019 to inform the final draft that will be sent to City Council in early 2020.

Flanders Bikeway Project

Concept Design for NW Flanders St. and Broadway, looking west

The Flanders Bikeway will improve conditions for bicycling and walking by upgrading crossings of busy streets and connecting new and existing bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.

NW Flanders Street will connect Gov. Tom McCall Waterfront Park to Northwest neighborhoods and provide direct access to a new bridge over I-405. Specific operational elements have not been determined yet. Please look at the project map and graphics for proposed ideas. The project is funded primarily by $2.4 million from transportation system development charges (TSDCs).

Parking in Northwest Portland

Come learn what’s new with parking management in Northwest Portland and offer feedback on your transportation spending priorities and proposed program ideas.

Since adopting the NW Parking Management Plan in 2012, PBOT has collaborated with the NW Parking Stakeholder Advisory Committee on managing parking in Northwest. The committee advises the city on the Zone M parking permit program and on the parking meter program. They also advise the city on spending the revenue that comes from the parking programs.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is the steward of the City’s transportation system, and a community partner in shaping a livable city. We plan, build, manage and maintain an effective and safe transportation system that provides access and mobility. www.portlandoregon.gov/transportation
