PBOT News Release:

Last Thursday street festival opens Alberta Street to family fun, 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday June 29

(June 28, 2017) This Thursday will be the start of the Last Thursday street festival on NE Alberta St., which will close the road to all motor vehicle, bicycle and bus traffic from 6 to 9 p.m., and open it for the popular event.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation invites all Portland families, artists, and neighbors to enjoy the vibrant street scene, support local businesses, and support the local art community.

People who plan to visit NE Alberta Street this Thursday are encouraged to take public transit, or bike or walk to the area. Attendees to the event are reminded to be courteous to the surrounding neighborhood.

Please park with consideration and limit the level of noise when returning home after the event.

PBOT is the new manager of the program and is pursuing a mission to build on Last Thursday’s tradition as a fun, family-friendly showcase of local art, food and culture. New features at the event this year will provide opportunities to make crafts, learn about using salvaged materials at home, and learn about our cultural history.

This month will feature:

  • A Native American village area on the east end of the block between 27th and 28th. This will include native artists, storytellers, and flute players. It will take up about half the block on both sides of the street.
  • The Rebuilding Center will be on the west end of the block between 28th and 29th. This will include a craft making station, the opportunity to see inside one of the sleeping pods that are being used at the new Kenton Village for homeless women, a photo booth, and other demonstrations about the Rebuilding Center. This will be on one half of the south side of the street.
  • Aerospace Science for Kids will also be between 27th and 28th Avenues with the Native American Village to make paper airplanes.

All vendors are asked to register at www.lastthurspdx.org.

Subsequent events are planned for July 27 and Aug. 31.
