(June
22, 2017) On Friday, June 23, 2017, PBOT will hold a media availability in the
Central Eastside Parking District as bureau meter technicians install new
meters with pay-by-plate technology. Pay-by-plate technology eliminates the
need for paper receipts; customers only have to enter their license plate
number, pay for the desired amount of parking and go. The technology also give
customers the ability to check how much parking time they have left from any
pay-by-plate empowered meter in the district.
When the
installation is complete on July 21st, the
technology will be available on 63 of new meters
in the Central Eastside Parking District and 73
of new meters in the Northwest Parking district.
Along with
the recently introduced Parking Kitty app, the introduction of pay-by-plate
technology is part of the bureau’s effort to use new technology to make is
easier and more convenient for customers to park in Portland's meter districts.
