PBOT celebrates the Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC with new team-themed bike lane art.

Former Timbers player Jack Jewsbury to assist PBOT crews with the installation

(June 21, 2017) On Thursday, PBOT striping crews will join former Portland Timbers player and current Director of Business Development Jack Jewsbury on SW Naito Parkway to install Portland Timbers-themed bike lane art in downtown Portland. In addition to the symbol on SW Naito, PBOT crews will also install two Portland Thorns FC-themed bike symbols and an additional Timbers symbol at other locations in Portland. The bike lane art celebrates the two beloved teams and also recognizes the large number of Timbers and Thorns fans who bicycle. Portland striping crews began installing creative takes on the traditional bike lane icon in 1999. Prior art has celebrated Prince, Portland Trailblazer Jerome Kersey, David Bowie and Oregon Ducks football. The bike lane art has become a popular symbol of Portland's bike community and has brought national and international attention to the city's bicycle lanes.
