HPAI in Cattle - USDA Issues Interstate Movement Restrictions
Over the past month, ODA has been leading an interagency team (including ODA, OHA, ODFW, OSU and USDA) planning for the potential detection of HPAI in an Oregon dairy. Due to new scientific findings, USDA has issued a federal movement order restricting the interstate movement of certain classes of dairy cattle, and requiring pre-movement testing for all lactating cattle moved interstate. Although there have been no detections of HPAI in Oregon cattle as of the time of this email, these restrictions will impact some dairy cattle movements in and out of Oregon.
We appreciate your patience and attention with this continually evolving issue. For more information on the current status of the state response, import restrictions and links to HPAI resources in Dairy Cattle please visit ODA's website at https://oda.direct/CattleHPAI.
ODA will also be hosting a webinar and Q&A on the current status of HPAI in cattle and the newly released federal order for Oregon veterinarians on April 25 at 5:00PM. While we understand that this is very short notice, the webinar will be recorded, and a copy of the recording will be provided to all registered participants. Veterinarians are encouraged to register for the webinar, even if you will not be able to participate in the event live.
