Document about HB 2437 now available for distribution
Dear agricultural partner:
In August, House Bill 2437, an agricultural channel maintenance bill, was signed into law. It introduces a simpler regulatory process to remove sediment from seasonally dry, traditionally maintained ditches and streams (channels) that promote agricultural drainage. In cases where a new permit is required, this new approach instead creates a notice-based process for landowners. To assist agricultural partners and landowners, the Oregon Department of Agriculture, Oregon Department of State Lands, and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife have created an informational document to highlight what HB 2437 is, what it does, and what it doesn’t do, as well as looking ahead at implementing HB 2437.
Please share the document (found by clicking the button below) with interested parties. Additional information and public engagement opportunities will be provided as administrative rules are adopted and the program is phased in.
