Jireh Semiconductor Inc, a wafer fabrictor, is opening its doors for tours this spring.
Located at 3131 NE Brookwood Parkway in Hillsboro - teachers or counselors can take their students to a clean room experience, requiring students to suit up in a "bunny suit".
Districts must provide their own transportation.
Registration is open to high school Teachers and Counselors. Students are unable to attend alone and must be accompanied with a school group. April tour days are filled, visit the registration page for available dates.

Wauna Credit Union has facilities across Columbia, Clatsop and Western Washington county. As an engaged community partner, Wauna is expanding their services into providing job shadows for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. Job shadows are offered at the Clatskanie and Astoria locations and are limited to districts in North Columbia and Clatsop counties.
During the job shadow, students will learn about various business, finance, marketing, and sales operations at the organization.

Mike Rowe, the face of "Dirty Jobs" launced the mikeroweWORKS foundation in 2008 to address the widening skill gap in trades. Mike's foundation includes a Work Ethic Scholarship. Unlike most other scholarships, the Work Ethic Scholarship accepts applications throughout the year - the final deadline is October 31st, 2026.
Applications considerations include:
- Selected program/school,
- Strength of references,
- Video content,
- Application completion and responses,
- and financial need.

We are excited to share that 16 high school Seniors have completed their 40-hour CDL Permit training over Spring Break (March 23rd - 27th) instructed by Elite Truck School, at the Washington Service Center in Hillsboro. Throughout the week, participants engaged in career connected learning experiences from some of our partners, including TriMet and FedEx Freight.
The next step of the program is the full 120 hour Class A “Range and Road” training at Elite Trucking in Hillsboro in July.
We are continuing to seek industry partner support for this program, both financially to sponsor students through this program, and in potential future employment opportunities for these students.

This month, we are excited to highlight the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at the Jewell School, where students are actively building real-world skills through hands-on agriculture and construction courses. From planting on-campus orchards and cooking farm-to-table meals to fabricating custom bookshelves and library benches, these programs provide students with tangible experiences and a profound sense of pride in their work. With Oregon CTE participants boasting a 98% four-year graduation rate—about 16 points higher than the state average—this showcase underscores the vital role that applied learning plays in driving student engagement and success across our region.

Career Guidance Collaborative
Join career guidance professionals and the NWRESD Career & College Readiness team as we begin to unpack accelerated credit on April 8th, virtually, from 9 AM - 10:30 AM. Participants can expect to learn about accelerated learning, identify district programs related to dual credit, and discuss overcoming student barriers.

AI Empowered EDU Conference
Now presenting the 2026 conference theme - Amplifying Human Intelligence & Student Voice. The 2026 AI Empowered EDU Conference, hosted by Clackamas ESD, Multnomah ESD, Northwest Regional ESD and University of Portland will be held on Tuesday, May 12th 8:00-4:00 at University of Portland campus.
Through presentations and workshops, attendees will deepen their understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI)’s impact in education and gain tools, strategies, and policies that advance AI knowledge.
Session Topics will include:

CTE Mentorship
The NWRESD Career & College Readiness team is seeking experienced CTE teachers to serve as mentors and new (<6 years) CTE teachers that need additional support in their adjustment in becoming a teacher.

Oregon Tradeswomen Trades and Apprenticeship Class
Oregon Tradeswomen facilitates the Pathways to Success programm which features a 192-hour trades and apprenticeship clas (TACC). TACC includes program participants to a variety of skilled trades through field trips, guest speakers, hands-on work days, and trades-specific training opportunities. The training program is offered at no cost with some eligibility requirements including a minimum age of 18, have a high school diploma (or GED), and more.
The 2026 TACC summer semester takes place from August 3rd through September 21st featuring information sessions May 4th through May 15th. Fall sessions begin in July with class beginning on October 26th.

Advanced Manufacturing Training
Impact NW is hosting a 7-week Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship for individuals aged 17 through 24. This is a great experience for students with an interest in developing their career within manufacturing. Training includes forklift certification, skateboard building, hand/power tool use, and more!
The summer class begins on June 5th at 2615 SE 39th Loop Unit I Hillsboro, OR 97123. If you are unable to attend in June, a Fall training will be held in September.

Synapse Camp - Health Career Exploration
Hosted in partnership by the Oregon Healthcare Workforce Institute Area Health Education Center (OHWI-AHEC) and Pacific University - meet real professionals and faculty at the annual Synapse summer camp. The 2026 Synapse summer camp will be from June 22nd to June 26th.
Participants can expect:

Participation requirements:
- Must be a rising sophomore OR junior - graduating seniors may NOT apply

Oregon Department of Transportation - High School to Highway
Oregon Department of Transportation has a new trainee program. With an expected start date of July 1, 2026 and end date of June 30, 2027, trainees can expect to repair roadways surfaces/shoulders, set up traffic control, clear brush, mow grass, and more! Accepted participants will be employed full time and will receive approxmately $3,952 per month (with a raise after 6 months!).

Looking for a meaningful way to give back and make an impact on the next generation? Junior Achievement offers engaging volunteer opportunities that help students develop real-world financial skills.
Volunteer in JA Finance Park
Volunteers play a key role in the JA Finance Park experience. During this one-day simulation, students take on adult roles with careers, salaries, and life scenarios. Volunteers help guide students as they build and manage a monthly budget, make spending decisions, and learn the importance of saving and financial planning. No prior teaching experience is required—just a willingness to engage with students and share your perspective.

- May 4 – May 8
- May 11
- Times vary but are generally between 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
