NW Early Learning Summit
Conferencia sobre aprendizaje temprano de NW
The NW Regional Child Care Resource and Referral and Northwest Early Learning Hub invite you to our first Early Learning Summit, a day of professional development, networking and resource sharing! ALL Early Learning professionals: licensed, exempt and program staff, Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education are invited to attend on Wednesday, August 27th at Best Western Ocean View Resort in Seaside Oregon. The summit will be focused on several important topics alongside key presentations about Belonging and Educator Wellness. Training details will be advertised soon. ORO credit will be available, lunch will be provided. Due to limited space, early registration is highly recommended We hope you will join us for a fantastic event.
Recursos y Referencias para el Cuidado Infantil (NW Regional Child Care Resource and Referral) y el Centro de Aprendizaje Temprano (Northwest Early Learning Hub) del Regional Noroeste lo invitan a nuestra primera Conferencia sobre aprendizaje temprano: un día de desarrollo profesional, creación de redes e intercambio de recursos. TODOS los profesionales de aprendizaje temprano: con licencia, exentos y el personal del programa, Intervención Temprana y Educación Especial de la Primera Infancia están invitados a asistir el miércoles, 27 de agosto al Best Western Ocean View Resort en Seaside Oregon. La conferencia se enfocará en varios temas de importancia, además de presentaciones clave sobre Pertenencia y Bienestar del educador. Los detalles de la capacitación se informarán pronto. Provider Spotlight - Maricela Medina Velarde

Maricela Medina has always been interested in working with children. In the spring of 2024, she contacted the Northwest Regional Child Care Resource and Referral team in Tillamook to learn more about the steps it would take to start her own childcare business During this time, both Maricela and her husband worked hard to make their place a safe and welcoming environment for all of the children and their families.
After completing the required training, business requirements and pre-certification visits from the Child Care licensing division, Maricela obtained her license as a Registered Family Care in June of 2024. She named her business “ Little Steps Day Care”. It is on the south side of Tillamook County. Maricela has opened her doors for children from infant through school age. Her program accepts families receiving Employment Related Day Care (ERDC ).
Maricela's constant vision of improvement for her program has influenced her to participate in the Quality Recognition and Improvement System (Spark/QRIS). Maricela stated that some of her goals are ”to provide a safe, fun nurturing environment for the children, teaching the children the ABC’s and slowly watching children understand and explore more and get them ready for kindergarten”.
Little Step Day Care is proud to provide an inclusive and bilingual program that teaches children practical skills while introducing them to the farm. The farm curriculum includes chickens, ducks, bunnies, cats, dogs, and a beehive to assist students' understanding of how honey is produced. The farm activities keep children busy, which makes nap time easier.
Maricela's favorite part of her job is teaching the children and seeing them gradually grow in their understanding of the ABC’s. Maricela enjoys listening to the children's exciting stories, seeing them having fun while learning, and looking forward to returning the next day.

Enfoque de Proveedor - Maricela Medina Velarde
Maricela Medina siempre tuvo interés en trabajar con niños. En la primavera de 2024, contactó al equipo de Recursos y Referencias para Cuidado Infantil de la Región Noroeste en Tillamook para obtener más información sobre los pasos a seguir con el fin de iniciar su propio negocio de cuidado infantil.
En ese tiempo, Maricela y su esposo trabajaron arduamente para convertir su hogar en un espacio seguro y acogedor para todos los niños y sus familias.
Tras haber completado todas las capacitaciones necesarias, los requisitos de negocio y las visitas previas a la certificación de la División de Licencias de Cuidado Infantil, Maricela obtuvo su licencia para el Cuidado Familiar Registrado en junio de 2024. Su negocio se llama “Little Steps Day Care”. Se encuentra al sur del condado de Tillamook. Maricela ofrece servicios a niños de la primera infancia hasta niños en edad escolar. Su programa acepta familias que reciben asistencia con el Cuidado Infantil relacionado con el Empleo (Employment Related Day Care, ERDC).
La continua perspectiva de mejora de su programa por parte de Maricela la incentivó a participar en el Sistema de Mejora y Reconocimiento de la Calidad (Spark/QRIS). Maricela indicó que algunos de sus objetivos son “ofrecer un entorno seguro, divertido y enriquecedor a los niños, enseñarles el abecedario y observar cómo los niños comprenden y exploran más de manera gradual, preparándolos para el jardín de infantes”.
En Little Step Day Care se enorgullecen de ofrecer un programa inclusivo y bilingüe que enseña a los niños habilidades prácticas a la vez que los acerca a la vida en la granja. Para las actividades de la granja se incluyen pollos, patos, conejos, gatos, perros y una colmena, para que los niños comprendan cómo se produce la miel. Estas actividades los mantienen ocupados, lo que facilita la hora de la siesta.
La parte favorita del trabajo de Maricela es enseñar a los niños y ver cómo aprenden poco a poco el abecedario. Maricela también disfruta escuchar las emocionantes historias que cuentan los niños, verlos divertirse mientras aprenden y esperar con ansias su regreso al día siguiente.

Statewide Live Webinars are presented by trainers across the state to larger groups of participants. Because of the wider group of trainers you can often find training on topics that are different from those offered regionally. These trainings are offered in English OR Spanish and do not usually offer translation or interpretation options.
Providers from outside of our region can register with us for these trainings - Only If they are not shared by their own CCRR. We will verify this.

Exciting News! You can now request the training topics you want and need - to be delivered
in-person at your site.
In order to better meet the needs of child care and early learning programs who have specific training and emergent needs, the CCRR has developed this Training Request Process. Your program can request one training per quarter to be delivered at your site. Programs must be open to hosting others in their community at training delivered at your site.
If your program is requesting a topic from a menu of training options, a request must be
submitted 3 months prior to the beginning of the quarter.
● Example: October 1st for the quarter starting January 1st
If your program is requesting a NEW topic, programs need to submit their requests 4 months prior to the new quarter. These topics will be delivered at a Set 1 level due to the time needed for training development.
● Example: September 1st for the quarter starting January 1st

Para cubrir de mejor manera las necesidades de los programas de cuidado infantil y
aprendizaje temprano con necesidades emergentes y de formación específicas, Recursos y
Referencias para el Cuidado Infantil (Child Care Resource and Referral, CCRR) ha
desarrollado este proceso de solicitud de formación. Su programa puede solicitar el envío
de una formación por trimestre a su centro. Los programas deben estar dispuestos a recibir a otras personas de su comunidad para la formación que se envíe a su centro.
Si su programa va a solicitar un tema de una lista de opciones de formación, la solicitud se
debe presentar 3 meses antes del inicio del trimestre.
● Ejemplo: 1 de octubre para el trimestre que inicia el 1 de enero.
Si su programa va a solicitar un tema NUEVO, debe presentar su solicitud 4 meses antes del inicio del nuevo trimestre. Estos temas se enviarán en un nivel de Conjunto 1 debido al tiempo necesario para el desarrollo de la formación.
● Ejemplo: 1 de septiembre para el trimestre que inicia el 1 de enero.

Scripted stories are a great tool to support a child who has difficulty in a routine or activity. Scripted stories can help a child understand what to expect during the activity or routine, understand the expectations and perspectives of others, and provide instructions about what to do.
