Updates From Us
- Our Family Support Mini-Grant application closed on November 22, 2024. We are pleased to announce that we received many strong applications. The mini-grant committee met earlier this month to evaluate the submissions. Award letters will be sent to the recipients by January 15, 2025. Thank you to all the community members who applied!
- An exciting partnership between NW Early Learning Hub and ODHS Region 1 will bring Little Free Libraries to ODHS offices across the region by January 2025. We have had many books come in and have begun coordinating with ODHS for the library installations. More details to come!
- Earlier this month we dropped off 192 Raising a Reader kits to Healthy Families and Early Head Start. We are so excited for the kits to be passed along during home visits for the families to enjoy!

Community Partner Spotlight
Did you know 211 can help you find child and family resources? 211info has a dedicated child care team who provide free, customized referrals for child care, preschool, behavioral programs, parenting classes, and other family support resources. “We aim to connect all families across Oregon – regardless of income – with programs that provide not just supervision, but also opportunities for enrichment and development for children of all ages,” says 211info Child Care Director, Kerry Wels.
In partnership with the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC), 211info child care specialists help families navigate quality care options, and offer guidance on Employment Related Day Care (ERDC), Preschool Promise, Baby Promise and Head Start - including how they work and what’s needed to apply. They can also provide various other local resources to help with food, housing, utility assistance, and much more.
On the North Coast, Community Engagement Coordinator, Sarah Farmer, based in Seaside, is the local 211info outreach representative. Sarah works throughout Clatsop, Columbia, and Tillamook counties, tabling at community events, distributing marketing materials, and connecting with local service providers to keep their information accurate in the 211info database.
To contact the 211info child care team, call 211, text the keyword “children” or “niños” to 898211, or email children@211info.org. You can also search online at 211info.org.

Parent Perspective
We asked our Family Leadership Council: “When the nights are long and the days are short, how do you like to recharge?” We would like to share some of the responses we received, and we hope you take a moment to reflect on your own answer!
- I do ceramics, or play my Nintendo switch!
- yoga, youtube videos, drinking tea, reading
- Going to the beach, reading, baking, and eating, bread
- Estar en casa, calentito viendo películas o series con mis hijas, me gustaría quedarme adentro pero también salir afuera con ellas para que ellas puedan salir. Being at home, warm watching movies or series with my daughters, I would like to stay inside but I also go outside with them so that they can go out.
- Me gusta lo caliente, llegar a casa y tomarme un té caliente o café y tomarlo sentada viendo lo que mis niños quieren para estar en familia. I like the heat, so coming home and having a hot tea or coffee and sitting watching what my children want to watch so I can be with my family.
- Esperar a que oscurezca y salir a caminar con mi chamarra grande y sentir el frío en mi cara y sentirme valiente y libre. Waiting for it to get dark and go for a walk in my big jacket and feel the cold on my face and feel brave and free.
