This event is the first of a series for High School Educators doing Career & College Readiness work. Priority for participant selection will be based on ensuring that this series includes educator representation from the entire NW Oregon Region, with a goal of including educators from all districts in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, and Washington Counties.

What is codeORcreateNW? A 3-day Work-Based Learning challenge for high school students aligned to computer science, communications & technology, and digital marketing. codeORcreate is a student event run by NWRESD. High school students get 48 hours to create a website, app, or video game that solves a challenge. Here is a short 2-minute video to show your students!

JA Biztown is a capstone program which combines in-class learning that culiminates to a day-long visit to a simulated town. Students have the opportunity to play roels such as citizens, workers, and consumers during their simulation and learn the importance of rights and responsibilities in a community. Students also learn about soft skills necessary for world of work. This program is recommended for grades 4-6.
What is Junior Achievement Finance Park? Similar to JA Biztown, JA Finance Park is a capstone program designed for personal finance learning. This specific program helps students build a foundation on which they can make informed financial decisions as they grow older and begin to enter adulthood. Students are assigned random adult identities and walkthrough setting a budget with their hypothetical salary and various life events. Mini-grants of up to $500 are available for schools to apply! Mini-grant may be higher depending on the number of applications received. Our funding priorities include new school participation (a school is new to Junior Achievement programming), small and rural schools, and schools with a significant travel distance. All schools are welcome to apply!

Trades Day introduces high schoolers to industry career opportunities in construction, design, heavy equipment and more. OR ACTE Best Practices Conference - Hosted at the Hilton Portland Downtown location from October 9th through the 11th. This CTE conference is co-hosted by ACTE and the National Council of Local Administrators. The conference is specifically focused on the professional development for administrators of both secondary and postsecondary career and technical education programs/institutes.
