Dear NWRESD Staff -
Thank you to everyone who attended the staff chat yesterday. For those who were unable to attend, please take the closing survey. You can also access the slides and recording.
As I shared, plans to vaccinate educators across our region are moving quickly. The major metro-area health systems are coordinating with the tri-county ESDs to create and execute a comprehensive vaccination distribution plan. In Clatsop, Columbia, and Tillamook counties, local public health authorities are leading the effort to distribute vaccines with their medical partners.
Regardless of the county in which you work or live, please be prepared for ongoing shifts in planning, and be prepared to act quickly if you are notified that you are eligible for an upcoming vaccination appointment.
Here’s what we know as of today:
- Educators become eligible for the vaccination on Monday, Jan. 25.
-
In Clatsop, Columbia and Tillamook counties, local public health authorities will notify educators as soon as vaccines are available.
-
In the metro area, our health system partners say they will begin offering appointments for PreK-12 staff next Wednesday, Jan. 27. The health care system leaders have created a central vaccination center that will be available - by scheduled appointment - to PreK-12 staff at the Oregon Convention Center.
-
The ESD will notify you with a scheduling invitation when it is your turn to schedule a vaccination appointment. It is vital that you are checking your email regularly for this invitation. We don’t know how much advance notice will be offered for those appointments.
- There are approximately 40,000 K-12 staff in the tri-county area.
- Our health care systems partners are estimating they will be able to administer about 2,000 vaccinations each day. At this rate, it will take several weeks to administer the first dose of vaccines to all early education and K-12 staff at this location.
- We anticipate that staff who provide direct, in-person support to students could receive notification as soon as early next week.
We know you are looking forward to more information about vaccination science and availability. We’re working to get answers to you as soon as they are available. When we have more information, we will share it with you.
