MOLALLA SKATE PARK REBUILD:
Get Involved, Share Your Voice
The Molalla City Council has taken an exciting first step toward replacing Molalla’s aging skate park by partnering with the Timateo De La Cruz Foundation, a local nonprofit working to help plan, fundraise for, and ultimately construct a new community skate park.
Molalla’s existing skate park has served the community for many years, but its aging features and limited design no longer meet the community’s needs. The vision is to create a modern, safe, accessible park that welcomes skaters and riders of different ages and abilities while continuing the community spirit that led to the original park’s creation.
Now we need to hear from you!
The City is launching a kickoff survey on the Molalla Current – Molalla Skate Park Rebuild project page. Whether you skate, bike, scooter, have kids who do, or simply want to help shape Molalla’s recreational future, we encourage you to participate.
The project page will also be the community’s home for updates, future engagement opportunities, project information, and ways to get involved as the effort moves forward.
Visit the Molalla Skate Park Rebuild page of the Molalla Current (current.cityofmolalla.com), take the survey, and help us build the next generation of Molalla’s Skate Park!
Murals are Coming to Molalla!
The City Council recently adopted a new Mural Code that took effect on August 22, 2026, allowing murals in the Commercial, Industrial, and Public/Semi-Public Zones.
Public murals can do much more than brighten a blank wall. They can help create a stronger sense of place, showcase Molalla’s history and character, support local artists, enhance commercial areas, encourage visitors to explore the community, and turn otherwise ordinary spaces into memorable landmarks.
The City hopes the new Code will encourage property owners, businesses, organizations, and artists to consider how murals can contribute to Molalla’s unique identity and add color and interest throughout the community.
Have a wall that could use a little creativity? Contact the Community Development Department to learn more about the Mural Permit process and help add to the story of Molalla!
Small Business, Big Support
Small and micro-enterprise businesses play an important role in Molalla’s economy and supporting them is a priority of the Molalla City Council.
Council has backed that goal with several recent actions aimed at reducing costs and making it easier to start or grow a small business. These include:
- Adopted a new Mobile Food Unit ordinance to streamline the process and reduce costs.
- Reduced all and waived some Mobile Food Unit System Development Charges based on development type.
- Adopted a Legacy SDC Policy that recognizes the highest provable historic use of a property for purposes of SDC credits.
- Cut business license fees in half for qualifying home occupations and raised the gross receipts exemption to the licensing requirement.
- Funded a Sidewalk Improvement Assistance Grant Program to help reduce the cost of required frontage improvements.
- The City is also developing regulations to: 1) allow accessory farmstands as home occupation uses, and 2) allow sales of cottage kitchen products at accessory farmstands.
The efforts outlined here and those to come are intended to remove unnecessary barriers, encourage entrepreneurship, support reinvestment in existing properties, and give local businesses more opportunities to succeed right here in Molalla.
Celebrate Molalla 2026
Celebrate Molalla began as a celebration of finalizing the Molalla Area Vision & Action Plan in 2018. A dedicated group of volunteers spends countless hours planning and coordinating.
This year, Celebrate Molalla saw record number crowds strolling through Clark Park, enjoying the City's annual community event. There were vendors, food carts, kids' crafts, music, and smiles all around.
Many thanks to the Celebrate Molalla Planning Committee, City staff, and attendees for sharing in this event!
