About the “Molalla Current”
A centralized civic engagement and public outreach platform, the “Molalla Current” was created to address community needs like inclusiveness, resident involvement, and collaboration. It provides an innovative and accessible alternative that expands public participation. Through a transparent digital hub, residents can: receive a monthly community newsletter; access project information; ask general questions; and provide feedback – all at their convenience. By offering content in multiple languages, the “Molalla Current” reduces linguistic barriers, broadens awareness among non-English-speaking residents, and supports inclusive, community-wide participation in local decision-making. - LOC Press Release 04/26/2026
WATER TREATMENT PLANT
While spring cleanup is always a major focus this time of year, our Water Treatment staff has also been hard at work preparing equipment and systems for the higher water demand season that comes with warmer weather. Preventive maintenance and system readiness are critical to ensuring reliable water service throughout the community during the summer months. As shown in the photo below, over time chemicals such as the soda ash used to help buffer and maintain proper pH levels within our water distribution system can begin to build up within the equipment. This buildup can create inefficiencies in the dosing system and impact overall performance. To keep the system operating effectively, staff periodically clean out and replace these materials as part of routine maintenance and operational upkeep.
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
The Molalla Wastewater Treatment Plant project continues to move steadily forward, with the majority of the concrete work now completed. There are countless detailed components involved in constructing a system and facility of this size and complexity. With the bulk of the concrete work finished, crews are now focusing on the final concrete details and finishing touches throughout the site. Electrical conduit runs are being installed, and inside the Control Building, electrical cabinets are being set in place while wiring is being pulled and connected. As areas become ready, mechanical equipment is also being installed, marking another important step toward bringing the facility systems online.
MOLALLA LIBRARY
Turning the Page: Library Welcomes New Leadership
"I have been working in libraries for over 15 years. I began working at the Molalla Public Library almost 9 years ago as a Children's Librarian and have since moved up and into the Director position. I love being a part of Molalla's community and continually look for ways to connect the library to events and partners around the area. I strongly believe that libraries are places that everyone should be welcomed. Libraries are more than just places to borrow items for free. They are places to learn new crafts or skills, make new friends at activities, "borrow" seeds to plant a flower or vegetable garden, learn how to create a love for reading in your children, find a safe place to study or meet with others, and so much more. Libraries should spark your creativity and encourage you to constantly learn and grow throughout your life. My hope is that everyone is greeted and welcomed when they enter the library and that they leave feeling positive and connected." - Director Murcray
