ENGINEERING SECTION
CAPITAL PROJECTS
Chief Yelkus Park – The City is excited to announce that construction will soon begin on a two-phase new park project located west of the Bear Creek Subdivision, off the old logging road (Molalla Forest Road). The playground is themed around the foundational myth of the Molalla Indian Tribe, specifically the Story of Coyote and Grizzly. It features a large Coyote play structure that will include a log jam, wooden columns shaped like cattails, balance beams, and platforms. Construction is set to being in April, with an anticipated completion date in mid-July to the first week of August. The City plans to hold a grand opening, and we hope to see everyone there!

Lola Ave Sewer & Waterline Replacement
This summer, the City will continue its efforts to replace utility infrastructure.
The project involves the removal of old sewer and water lines on Lola Ave, from 2nd Street to 5th Street, followed by the installation of new materials that meet today’s standards.
Additionally, the project will include a full-depth street reconstruction. The City expects the work to begin in early May and continue through August.

PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT
 |

- The River Meadows Subdivision
- A new gas station located in the Cascade Center Development
- Bear Creek Apartments
- A new industrial park off W Main Street (located between Kennel and Dixon Avenue)
To name a few.

PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE SECTION
Public Works crews work to repair the trip hazards along the bridges at Ivor Davies Park. |

Below: Crews worked on temporary patches to repair damages caused by dump trucks at the east end of Shirley Street.
Below: Progress from the Utility Crew in restoring signs across our City parks.
Below: The street sweeper is in full action! There is no schedule, just keeping the debris picked up across town!

|
Do your part! Keep your storm drains clean from debris, don't push your debris into the streets, and notify Public Works if you notice a clogged storm drain. |
MOLALLA WATER & WASTEWATER
 |
|
The Waste Water Treatment Plant upgrades are in full swing.
The gravel for the SBR foundation is nearing the final grade and being rolled out for compaction.
|
A new fire hydrant is being installed for fire protection and to help supply the water needs of the the biosolids removal equipment, as the long stored biosolids in the Facultative Sludge Lagoons will be removed this summer. |
|
 |
 |
|
Replumbing piping that will be rerouted due to changes made to the treatment processes and patterns. |
The Water Treatment Plant
Treatment Plant operators replaced a Soda Ash line that had residual buildup up in the pipe causing significant reduction in dosing efficiency.
This buildup forms over years with many liquid solutions. The photo demonstrates the 1” pipe has narrowed to less than a pencil sized hole.
Having proper Soda Ash control is important to maintaining optimal drinking water pH and is supporting the health of the distribution systems piping.
