CITY MEETINGS

City Offices will be closed Monday, February 17, 2025, for President's Day

Planning Commission:
Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 6:30pm

City Council:
Wednesday, February 12, 2025, and Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 7:00pm

City Council and Planning Commission meetings are held at Molalla Civic Center - 315 Kennel Avenue.

Park CPC (Community Program Committee):
Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 5:30pm at City Hall, 117 N. Molalla Avenue
Park CPC meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of every month, and the location may change with the weather! Updated meeting locations will be posted on Facebook if they change.

Beautification and Culture CPC (Community Program Committee):
Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 5:30pm - Molalla Area Chamber of Commerce - 109 E. Main Street.

Beautification and Culture CPC meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of every month.

Public Works takes care of our pets and the environment while making things safer for us! The de-icer you might see on sidewalks at public buildings such as the Library and City Hall is safe for pets and vegetation.

MOLALLA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Last week, our partners at Safety Compass Oregon spoke at Molalla River Middle School about online safety, boundaries, and how to support each other. It can be difficult to know if people online are who they say they are and if they have good intentions. Questions: info@safetycompass.org

Budget Committee
The Molalla Budget Committee consists of the City Council plus an equal number of citizen members, approved and appointed by the City Council. State law, ORS 294.336, mandates a Budget Committee for all Oregon local governments.

Library Board

The Molalla Public Library Board consists of up to five (5) members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. All members must reside within the service area of the Molalla Public Library as defined by the Intergovernmental Agreement forming the Library District in 2008. A City Council representative will be a liaison of the City Council to the Library Board.
The Library Board advises the City Council on library policy matters and performs such other duties as are assigned by the City Council. (Molalla Municipal Code 2.08)

Planning Commission
Interested in being a part of the Planning Commission? To qualify, applicants must be U.S. Citizens and submit a completed Application for Appointment to a Citizen Committee. Forms are also available at City Hall. Each applicant shall include a brief statement of why they wish to serve on the Planning Commission. Applicants may include a resume with their applications. Appointments to the Planning Commission will be made by the Mayor.

Mayor Scott Keyser and State Representative District 18 Rick Lewis

CITY COUNCIL

Mayor Keyser attended City Day at the Capitol in Salem, on January 28th and met with State Representative Rick Lewis.

Highlights of City Day at the Capitol included presentations from the LOC’s Government Relations Team on legislative priorities and briefings from state elected leaders about their priorities for the 2025 Session.

Nearly 300 people were expected to attend.

On January 8, 2025, Mayor Scott Keyser and Councilors Eric Vermillion, Martin Bartholomew, and Doug Gilmer were sworn into office.

City’s New Wastewater Treatment Plant Breaks Ground!

On January 17, 2025, City Staff and project partners gathered on what will soon be the site of the City’s new Wastewater Treatment Plant! The project is expected to proceed through late 2026 for phase 1 (primary construction), and late 2027 for phase 2 (lagoon conversion). This project has been more than 10-years in the making and is supported financially by loans from the State Clean Water Revolving Fund (CWSRF) and U.S. Dept. of Agriculture – Rural Development (USDA-RD), as well as more than $7.5 million in grants and principle forgiveness from the Oregon Lottery, CWSRF, and USDA-RD.

Chief Yelkus Park – Out to Bid

The newest addition to the City’s Parks system will soon be under construction. The request for proposals was published on January 15, 2025 and will close on February 12, 2025. Once the project team has scored the submittals, a contract will be presented to the City Council for review and award. Please note, this project is financially supported by contributions and donations from Molalla Communications Company, the Ford Family Foundation, the Molalla Parks Community Program Committee, and legislative funding secured by Representative Rick Lewis.
