Senator Knopp Testifies in Support of Affordable Housing - SB 516.

This morning, Senator Tim Knopp (R-Bend) testified in support of SB 516, which received a public hearing in the Senate Finance & Revenue Committee. Knopp is a chief sponsor of the bill, along with Representative Knute Buehler (R-Bend) and Representative Gene Whisnant (R-Sunriver). The bill will help to bring regional equity in affordable housing.

Senators Introduce Bipartisan Bills to Fund Strategic Investment in K-12 Education.

Today, Senate Education Committee Chair Arnie Roblan (D-Coos Bay) and Vice Chair Tim Knopp (R-Bend) introduced three bills that target strategic investment in K-12 education. The bills fund strategic grants for education innovation and intervention programs and increase funding for special education and ELL funding.

SB 611: Bipartisan Jobs Bill Passes the Senate

This past week, the Senate passed SB 611 relating to certain property tax exemptions for centrally assessed companies. Senator Knopp worked for, spoke in favor of, and voted for the bill which modernizes Oregon tax code and makes Oregon more attractive for businesses, especially tech companies. The bill has garnered bipartisan support from the Senate since it is set to bring jobs to both urban and rural Oregon. Having passed the Senate, the bill is currently being considered by the House.
