As we move through this busy time of year in House District 31, I wanted to pause and share a few updates while highlighting some of the things happening in our communities.
Serving as your State Representative continues to be a profound honor and responsibility. I remain deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me, and I’m committed to being a strong, accessible voice for our district.
Next week, from June 15th to 17th, we will be back in the Capitol building for legislative days. This will include committee meetings, important stakeholder discussions, and valuable opportunities for constituents to connect with us as we prepare for the 2027 legislative session.

Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Seeks Public Input on Grant Program Updates
The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is seeking public comment on proposed updates to the Land and Water Conservation Fund grant program rules.
The Land and Water Conservation Fund is a federally funded grant program that helps local governments, federally recognized tribes, and state agencies acquire and develop outdoor recreation areas across Oregon.
Under the proposed changes, OPRD would move to a biennial funding schedule. At least one year of each biennium would include a competitive grant round open to eligible applicants, while the alternate year would dedicate available funding to eligible Oregon State Park projects. OPRD states that this approach will help maintain an efficient grant program while supporting critical state park improvements and long-term recreation planning.
Public comments will be accepted through July 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

Oregon Health Authority Seeks Public Comment on Healthy Homes Grant Program Rules
The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is seeking public comment on proposed permanent rule changes to the Healthy Homes Grant Program.
The proposed amendments implement House Bill 3506 (2025), which appropriated $3 million to support home repairs and accessibility improvements for seniors and individuals with disabilities. The Healthy Homes Grant Program helps low-income households improve indoor air quality, reduce energy costs, and make critical health and safety repairs to their homes.
The proposed rule changes establish definitions and eligibility criteria necessary to administer the program and ensure consistent implementation statewide.
Public comments will be accepted through June 22, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the recent industrial accident in Longview, Washington. We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and coworkers who lost loved ones in this tragedy, and we wish a full and speedy recovery to those who were injured.
This event hits especially close to home for many in House District 31, as so many of our neighbors in Columbia County live, work, and raise families across the border. We are deeply grateful for the brave first responders, emergency personnel, and investigators who have worked tirelessly to assist the community and uncover what happened.
The Scappoose Outdoor Fun Festival has been rescheduled and will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Park.
Hosted by the Scappoose Public Library, this free event will feature family-friendly activities, raffles, giveaways, swag bags, a kids art contest, and an opportunity to enter to win a kayak.
