The 2026 short session has come to a close, and my office made the decision not to introduce any bills given the budget challenges that our state has been facing mostly due to the passage of HR 1 by the federal government last summer.
Instead, we focused on protecting our social safety net as much as possible given the decline in revenue, in addition to working with Democratic leadership in the House on the following legislation below.

House Democrats Federal Response – Supporting Immigrant Communities, Defending Civil Rights, and Pushing back against Federal Overreach
Strengthened Civil Rights, Privacy & Accountability
* Strengthened anti-discrimination protections so immigrants can work, access courts, and interact with law enforcement without fear (HB 4111).

* Explicitly protected students from discrimination based on immigration or citizenship status (SB 1538).
* Ensured immigrant and refugee communities help guide state immigration policy updates (SB 1594).

$300 Million Protected and Over 200,000 Oregonians Receiving Tax Relief
* Largest Expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit in State History
* Holding Lenders Accountable by closing a loophole allowing out-of-state and online lenders to evade Oregon’s interest rate limits and consumer protections (HB 4116).
* Closing Corporate Tax Loopholes by eliminating tax breaks that lack clear evidence of creating jobs in Oregon, including certain deductions for auto loan interest, corporate equity sale profits, and accelerated depreciation for select capital investments.
* Cracking Down on Hidden Fees & Scams by strengthening transparency in the ticket resale market, protecting Oregonians from misleading practices (HB 4024).
* Protecting Homebuyers by ensuring single-family homes are prioritized for Oregon families – no multinational corporate investors (HB 4128).
* Lowering Health Care Costs by eliminating deductibles, copays, and out-of-pocket costs for cervical cancer screenings and follow-up exams (SB 1527).
