Neighbors,
We wanted to share a very welcome update since our last newsletter, sent out yesterday, that November SNAP benefits have now been fully distributed to Oregon Trail Cards for the 750,000 Oregonians who rely on them. This means all Oregonians receiving SNAP will have their monthly benefit available NOW, regardless of their usual payment schedule.
This is a huge relief. 750,000 Oregonians, approximately 210,000 of whom are children and 130,000 are adults 65+, rely on SNAP to put food on the table.
We have 15,494 households in Deschutes County who are now able to use their SNAP benefits.
Check Your EBT Card Balance Before Shopping
Before shopping, make sure to check your EBT card balance to confirm your benefits have been issued. There are several quick ways to see how much money is in your account:
⚠️ Important: Only use the official ebtEDGE website or mobile app. ODHS does not support any third-party EBT management apps or websites.
If you are expecting a SNAP balance and don’t see one, call the ONE Customer Service Center at 800-699-9075. Electronic theft of benefits from EBT cards is on the rise nationwide. Take steps to protect your card and benefits. ODHS will continue to share updates at: https://www.oregon.gov/odhs/news/Pages/snap-updates.aspx.
Last night, the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) worked overnight to ensure that full November benefits were issued by Friday morning, allowing families statewide to access the resources they need without further delay.
Because of the state’s advance emergency preparations, ODHS was able to move quickly once federal funds were released, coordinating with its electronic benefits transfer (EBT) vendor to make benefits available immediately. As a result, Oregon was among the first states in the nation to distribute SNAP benefits to residents following the court’s decision.
As I said in my newsletter last night: Food should never be political. Every family deserves to know they will have enough to eat, and every child deserves the chance to thrive without hunger in their lives. I want to share my deepest appreciation to the many businesses, non-profits, and community leaders in Deschutes County who showed up to donate, volunteer, and meet the moment.
In community,
Emerson
